Remarks on Bounded Rationality

چکیده
The concept of bounded rationality is not well-defined. Several aspects of bounded rationality are discussed. Two different kinds of bounded rationality are distinguished. First, rationality may be bounded in the sense that the player cannot perform all the necessary calculations within the time frame of the game. This applies not only to numerical calculations but also to any kind of information processing, for example, figuring out logical consequences, or self-examination of preferences. Recent studies on the effect of bounded rationality concentrate on this type, studying the effect of limited computational capability on the set of Nash-equilibria of the game. Some objections to the approach taken in these papers in dealing with the question of bounded rationality are presented. In the second type, players may simply not accept that Nash-equilibrium is a necessary consequence of rationality. Such players challenge the Nash-equilibrium simply because it rules out some desirable outcomes. An example is presented followed by a proposed notion of approximate equilibrium (stronger than Radner’s) which offers some help in this direction. REMARKS ON BOUNDED RATIONALITY *

B - 454 What is Bounded Rationality ? Paper prepared for the Dahlem Conference 1999
The paper deals with bounded rationality understood in the tradition of H.A. Simon. Fundamental problems and theoretical issues are discussed. Special emphasis is put on aspiration adaptation theory. Further remarks concern basic models of decision behavior (like learning and expectation formation), reasoning, and the connection between bounded rationality and motivation.

متن کاملSome Remarks on Generalized Sequence Space of Bounded Variation of Sequences of Fuzzy Numbers
The idea of difference sequences of real (or complex) numbers was introducedby Ki zmaz cite{Kizmaz}. In this paper, using the difference operator and alacunary sequence, we introduce and examine the class of sequence $bv_{theta}left( Delta, mathcal{F}right) .$ We study some of its properties likesolidity, symmetricity, etc.
متن کاملStructural Stability and Robustness to Bounded Rationality∗
The introduction of a small amount of bounded rationality into a model sometimes has little effect, and sometimes has a dramatic impact on predicted behavior. We call a model robust to bounded rationality if small deviations from rationality result only in small changes in the equilibrium set. We also say that a model is structurally stable if the equilibrium set (given fully rational agents) v...
